Recreational Activities

We are aware of the evolving nature of activities at the Home. There are never two days the same. Our Residents have always had a ‘high expectation' over the years and an appetite for ‘a piece of the action!'

Each month the Home organises between 150-200 escorted activities for residents requiring supervision. We are aware increasingly of which activities each individual enjoys. These excursions into the community create much bustle and energy output throughout the day. The front door is never closed for long. This passion for an active life is greatly enhanced by the introduction of the seven-seater Zafira vehicle, which was purchased for the Home last autumn.

We always ensure that there are additional staff to allow the wide range of activities on offer each day.

Outdoor Activities

Local Cinema – the local cinema is just over the road and is enjoyed by our residents.

Town Shopping – the local high street is just around the corner and enjoyed by most of our residents for walking, shopping, visiting cafes etc.

Barbeques – We have a long history of BBQ's - all relished by our residents.

Beach Activities – the beach, just yards away, can be enjoyed daily for games, picnics, walks etc.

The Branch Walkway, Guisborough

Our home prides itself in allowing vulnerable folks to gain access to fresh air and community activity instead of feeling claustrophobic indoors. There is a record kept of all activities. This allows us to ensure that everybody gets an opportunity to go out. Wheelchair users especially enjoy these opportunities to go out with staff and fellow residents. Please ask to see the recreational activities book when you arrange a visit.

Cafes and Fish and Chip Shops - These are all within easy reach, are regularly used and very popular.

Redcar High Street - 8:55 am
Just a short walk from the home, Redcar High Street is clean,
safe, wide, friendly and traffic free.

Church - Some of our residents have Christian faith and enjoy visiting the local churches.

Cricket Matches - There is a local cricket pitch, which is within walking distance of the Home. This is a popular summer venue especially for one of our residents.

Night Classes - Yours to choose

Indoor Activities

Over the years we have established coffee mornings and welcome days for friends of the Home. These have proved very popular. Buffets and karaoke afternoons are now regular events. Links with local charity groups and shared activities are now building up. We also receive regular visitors from other care homes. Social events such as bingo, pie and pea suppers, music quizzes, etc., etc., are being planned.

Camcorder Use and Photography

Opportunities for photography, framing and display of pictures taken at recreational venues are offered and also camcorder filming which allows the residents to watch themselves on TV - which is great fun. This has been popular for the care home over the years. We have years of archive footage to look back on. We make it our business to make ‘everyone famous for (at least) fifteen minutes.'
